Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality was fully represented in Berlin with team members from London, Moscow, Milan and Prague. The Bratwurst & Beer Lunch at KaDeWe was another huge success and thanks to Stephen for being such an excellent host once again. The general mood at the conference was cautiously up beat and we were able to meet with a wide range of clients, contacts and friends over the three-day event.

February 2011 – Cushman & Wakefield commissioned to negotiate terms for international hotel within new Pulkovo airport terminal, Saint Petersburg, Russia

International consortium “Northern Capital Gateway” – operator of Pulkovo airport, has commissioned the Moscow Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality team to assist in management contract negotiations with an international hotel operator for the hotel project within the new international terminal at Pulkovo Airport, Saint Petersburg, Russia.Having prepared the concept, feasibility study and ran the tender to secure the operator, Head of Hospitality David Jenkins and his team are now working on finalising the agreement for the 200-room hotel which will have direct, all-weather access to the new terminal. All major operators were involved in the tender and one has been selected for final negotiation.

“We are very proud to have been involved at the beginning of this process and look forward to helping the airport finalise a well known brand for this gateway project for the city. St Petersburg is a hotel market we have been active in for a number of years and this redevelopment of the airport is a highly positive step for the country’s second capital city” commented David Jenkins.

February 2011 – Cushman & Wakefield commissioned to carry out tender for operator for new resort in Imeritinsky Lowalnd, Sochi, Russia

“Top Project” – investor and developer of the new resort, has commissioned the Moscow Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality team to conduct an international tender to secure an operator for their ground-breaking 2,300 room resort in a prime location within the Imeritinsky Lowland in the Winter Olympic city of Sochi.

Having prepared the concept and feasibility study, Head of Hospitality David Jenkins and his team has been working with international architects and the investor to finalise the overall scheme of the resort. With a combination of hotel, serviced apartments and self-catering units, the 35 hectare resort (laid over two land-plots) will be the first international quality and planned family resort in the Sochi area.

Bordered by Russia’s first Theme Park and the Black Sea, the area itself is ideally located to offer summer sun family vacations, weekend breaks and quick access to the ski resorts in Krasnaya Polyanna.

“We know that traditionally and still today, the Sochi tourist market is mainly a family driven mass market – but with little in the way of quality and well planned resorts. We are delighted to be involved in this landmark project which will change the face of family holidays in the area for ever” commented David Jenkins. “It was the most challenging and exciting project I have undertaken in Russia and I anticipate strong interest from the resort operator community. It has been a pleasure to work on this and we all believe that this resort will be a major legacy from the Olympic Games”

April 2011 – China Hotel Investment Conference (CHIC), Shanghai

Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality was retained in a sale mandate for a 274-key vacant ski resort in Sestrière, in the Municipality of Turin. The ski resort was sold to Aurum Hotels. Sestrière is a popular skiing resort and regularly hosts FIS Alpine Ski World Cup events, and it hosted the FIS World Championships in 1997, and the IPX World Championships in 2011. It was a main venue during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and 2006 Winter Paralympics, hosting all the men’s alpine skiing competitions and being the site of one of the three Olympic Villages.

Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality was appointed to assist in the feasibility study and analysis of conversion of a former industrial plant into a hotel. We also assisted in the successful selection of a hotel operator (Akus Hotels) under a lease contract for the new 230-key limited-service hotel.

Hyatt Regency Sochi

Cusham & Wakefield Russia were tasked with preparing a market and financial feasibility study for this landmark 250-key luxury hotel in the centre Sochi – the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
They also ran the tender for the operator and successfully attracted Hyatt to the project in what will be the first luxury branded hotel to open in the city.
Hotel expected to open in 2013.
