Nick Pattie is Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality, EMEA based in our London office.
Recent Successes
Nick has been responsible for the commercial due diligence in relation to hospitality and leisure transactions with a combined value in excess of £4 billion during recent years. Some examples of his work include:
· The successful acquisition of the European owned portfolio of InterContinental Hotels by Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund, the UK Travelodge business for Dubai International Capital (DIC), and the Holmes Place European health club group for Bridgepoint and Permira. It has also included a wide range of independent asset acquisitions, such as Skibo Castle on behalf of a consortium of members;
· He has undertaken a large number of hotel valuations in the UK and Europe, ranging across the recent valuation of Jurys Inns Group, a 250 bedroom hotel in Edinburgh and a golf resort in the South of France;
· Nick has been responsible for more than 400 feasibility studies, business plans and operational reviews for hotel and leisure developers and operators. These include projects throughout Europe, the Middle East and the Mediterranean region;
· The proposed deregulation of the UK Gambling Industry has been the spur for a number of market entry studies that he has undertaken for Australian and South African casino and hotel resort operators. In addition, he has prepared a number of influential reports for gaming sub-sectors and their future prospects;
· Nick was responsible for the business plan for the Tiger Woods golf resort in Dubai announced in December 2006. The first of its kind, the exclusive resort will include residential, hotel and golf components of extraordinarily high quality;
· Nick has provided expert evidence for planning inquiries and arbitration on a range of sectors, including: hotels, golf, casinos and cruise lines;
· Nick has undertaken reviews of sales and marketing activities for both the Dorchester Hotel Group and InterContinental Hotels and Resorts. The reviews analysed the processes and effectiveness of sales and marketing within the operating units, at head office and at regional sales offices; leading to detailed recommendations for strategic and financial improvements.

Nick has worked in hotel and leisure consulting for over 15 years, advising a number of the largest global hospitality groups as well as many independent businesses. He was most recently the director of KPMG’s hospitality and leisure advisory services, following a period of seven years with Deloitte & Touche as managing consultant for their hotel and leisure consulting group.
Prior to consulting, Nick gained a depth of senior management experience across the hotel sector and, in particular, in resort development. He has been general manager of hotels across the UK and in the Caribbean. Nick has also been responsible for golf resort developments throughout the UK and Continental Europe and was operations director for the (then) largest vacation ownership developer in Europe.
Nick also owned a successful small UK hotel and leisure group which provides a practical understanding of the issues faced by independent operators.
